Why You Gotta Be So Rude? The True Recipe for Smoky BBQ Bacon Cheddar CheeseBurger Popcorn

From: The Adventures of TasteeBQ

http://www.tasteebq.wordpress.com

#Popcorn #MickBrown
From the Video “Smoky BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Popcorn”

They say, “Can’t you just get over it…?” Forgive sounds good. TasteeBQ is not quite sure he should…

The show had it’s Season Finale last Sunday, but TasteeBQ is still processing What Had Happened… Our Hero had been invited to make an appearance on the new television Show “FrankenBites” on Smack TV. It is a Cooking Competition where Superheroes from all over the world compete for a Power Supply of $10,000 dollars. For the occasion, he created the perfect dish: Smoky BBQ Bacon Cheddar CheeseBurger Popcorn. So far, so good… until the show’s Editors got a hold of the tape.

This creative dish can be made with an outdoor Grill or in the kitchen with a skillet (or grill pan), oven and a homemade Stovetop Smoker. It includes all of the elements of America’s favorite Sandwich: lean Seasoned Ground Beef, thick Smoky Candied Bacon and gourmet Cheddar Cheese. Instead of a Bun, TasteeBQ makes it into a Gluten Free Snack mixed with Popcorn and a HEROIC! BBQ Rub. Classic condiments are included: Pickles, Tomatoes, Green Chili Peppers, and even a special Mustard Ketchup Mayoli. A variation of the dish comes in Butter Lettuce Cups.

#BBQbaconcheeseburgerpopcorn #halloween
This fun variation served in Butter Lettuce Cups could be great for Halloween. The Popcorn is a hidden surprise underneath the “Eyes”.

On the day of the shoot, the Judges on “FrankenBites” gave TasteeBQ high praise for the flavors. One called the HEROIC! seasonings “Genius”. “Forget the $10,000 dollars”, he said; “We can take the dish and make $1,000,000 Bucks.” From there, things turned not-so-nice. Ironically, the ensuing Judge complaints were about the Popcorn Box and extra Kernels that TasteeBQ agreed to add at the last minute. In the end, our Hero had small objects thrown at him while being dragged out by a Producer. In turn, he decided to throw back his one shot at $1,000,000 Bucks: his Business Card. It was all done in Fun.

Not seen on the televised episode of “FrankenBites”, an online video of TasteeBQ’s encounter with the “FrankenBites” Judges was released. All positive praise for the dish is edited out, and a dumbed-down Recipe is added in. Ha Ha Ha.

Try making the True Recipe at home, and you be the Judge:

He was pleased to be part of something that makes The World a Better Place to Laugh. If he is not cultivating the $1,000,000 Bucks next year, maybe TasteeBQ will go for a Round #2 rematch with the “FrankenBites” Judges. In the meantime, he will spreading joy with Smoky BBQ Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger Popcorn wherever he goes.

Tune in next time for more of The Adventures of TasteeBQ…

Burgers And Beyond! TasteeBQ Goes To The Super Bowl II

5 Super Easy Grilling Recipes to Make You a SuperHero

What a difference a year makes. This was the very first episode of  “The Adventures of TasteeBQ”, released on BuzzFeed in January 2013. We are happy to bring it to WordPress, in an updated edited version. For the past year, the original article/short story has been shared almost everywhere. It is being used as a language learning tool across the world, like in the Bengali-to-English Dictionary. Hope you enjoy.

For Original Short Story on Buzzfeed Burgers And Beyond! TasteeBQ Goes To The Super Bowl!!

#grilledburger
Grilled Burgers may be the goal, but there is more you can do with the Grill on Super Bowl Sunday.

Our hero TasteeBQ was called to the Rescue by Jill, a Damsel in Distress. Tired of frozen burgers and salty hotdogs for Super Bowl, Jill was determined to do something more exciting on the Grill. Plus, some of Jill’s expected guests were from the Tribe of Vegan. On a lifelong Mission to defeat his longtime archenemy Boren’GFood, our Hero is always happy to lend a hand. TasteeBQ flew to Jill’s lair immediately and was amazed to see her Pantry, which contained everything needed. With an assist on the Grill from her husband Jack, Jill was able to make 5 Super Easy Super Bowl Recipes for the Grill.

5 SUPER EASY SUPER BOWL RECIPES FOR THE GRILL

1. BARBEQUE CHIPS

#smokedchips
Smoked Barbeque Chips- a quick and delicious recipe. Use whatever kind of Chips you like.

General Supplies: BBQ Grill (Gas or Charcoal), Wood Chips (Hickory, Mesquite, Cherry, and/or Apple), Grill Tongs and Spatula, Metal or Foil Pans and Aluminum Foil.

For Recipe: Chips, BBQ Rub or Seasoning

It’s not really a recipe, more of a Neat Trick or Technique. Use any flavor Chips you like, sprinkle with BBQ Rub (optional) and put them on the Smoker for 8-10 minutes. Use Indirect Heat Method to add a fresh, delicious Grill Smoked Flavor. This works especially well with Chips for dipping and served warm.

2. SMOKED NACHOS

#smokednachos
Take your Nachos on a Detour to the Grill for some amazing flavor.

Supplies: Tortilla Chips, Cheese, Salsa and a variety of Toppings which can include: Chopped Onions, Tomatoes, Jalapenos, Black Beans, Sour Cream, Guacamole and Bean Dip. For meat, add Taco Seasoned Ground Beef, Cooked Chicken, Steak Bits or Crispy Bacon.

Layer the Tortilla Chips evenly across the bottom of Foil Pan. Sprinkle Chips with one layer of Shredded Cheese (helps prevent the Chips from getting soggy). Next, spread Black Beans (or Bean Dip), Chopped Tomatoes, Onions and a final Topping of Shredded Cheese. To the Grill! The Chips are smoked on Low Indirect Heat for 12-15 minutes. Guests can top their own Chips with Sour Cream and Guacamole. A choice of Mild Salsa, Jalapenos and Cholula (or Tapatio?) Hot Sauce would also be nice.

3. GRILLED CAESAR SALAD

#grilledsalad
Take some of the Romaine Lettuce to the Grill before mixing any Green Salad. It will add a Smoky new layer of flavor.

Supplies: Romaine Lettuce, Olive Oil, Caesar Dressing, Croutons and Parmesan.

Rinse and dry heads of Romaine Lettuce, then chop in half. Drizzle 1/3 portion (of all Lettuce) with Olive Oil and  grill on Medium Heat for about 5-7 minutes (until lightly caramelized). Then chop both Fresh and Grilled Lettuce into 2-3 inch squares. Toss in Caesar Dressing, (optional) Croutons and Parmesan. Add Chopped Fresh Basil and Cherry Tomatoes for even more flavor. Super Bowl Twist- Substitute large cracked Fritos or Doritos for Croutons.

4. SMOKIN’ HOT WINGS!

#bbqwings
The short cut Recipe is to use pre-cooked wings for the Grocery Deli Dept. If you want to Grill Fresh – Go For It.

Supplies: Precooked Chicken Wings, BBQ Dry Rub, Wood Chips

Re-season the Precooked Wings with Dry BBQ Rub/Seasoning. Then grill Wings on Low Indirect Heat for approx. 15-20 minutes. Use Wood Chips for smoked flavor.

For Buffalo Wings- Toss wings in Franks Hot Wing Sauce, garnish with Celery and Grilled Carrot Sticks.
For Barbecue Wings- Toss wings in your favorite BBQ Sauce, garnish with Grilled Texas Toast.
For Teriyaki Wings- Toss wings in your favorite Teriyaki Sauce (Asian Sesame Dressing is also OK), sprinkle with Chopped Green Onions.
Serve Wings with Bleu Cheese and/or Ranch Dressing on the side for dipping.

For Fresh Chicken Wings, season overnight with BBQ Rub. Grill for 40 Minutes to 1 Hour before Tossing in Finishing Sauce.

5. BISTRO SLIDERS

Supplies: Ground Beef, BBQ Dry Rub, Salt, Pepper and Worcestershire Sauce.  Mini Hamburger Buns; optional Condiments- Cheese, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Onions, Pickles, and Jalapenos. Sauces- 1000 Island Dressing, Herb Mayo (Mayo mixed with Dry Garlic/Italian Seasoning), BBQ Sauce, Stoneground Mustard and Ketchup (for the kids).

Use 1/5 to 1/4 lbs. Ground Beef per Burger. Season with Salt, Pepper, BBQ Rub and Worcestershire Sauce. Make small Patties and Grill on Medium High Heat for 8-12 minutes, depending on thickness/desired doneness. Flip Burgers at 4-7 minutes, then add Cheese halfway thru second side.

Success!!! At no point throughout the Super Bowl Party did the villainous Boren’GFood dare rear his ugly head, to dampen the Fun. Those Burgers made Jack the King of the Hill. He and Jill celebrated with a Touchdown Dance after bidding “Farewell” to their guests. TasteeBQ did the Moonwalk, as well. Going back faster and faster, gliding backwards until he was Out-of-Sight(!). That is, until Valentine’s Day…

5 Things You Need to Know about the SBA: Small Business Saturday Episode- TasteeBQ VS. The Sharks Part II

Courtesy of TasteeBQ.wordpress.com

*As of now, POWER Rub appears at #3 on Google Search for “Gluten-Free BBQ Rubs”.  Today the California Gold BBQ Rubs page is set to surpass 4200 Likes on Facebook.

#SBA
One of the things the SBA can do for you.

He knew it would happen one day, but didn’t think it would come so soon. Nowadays, every new business dreams of getting hooked up on television’s most popular Business Dating Game. There he was- our superhero TasteeBQ- in the same room with the famous “Angel” Investors from the TV show “Shark Bait”. With thousands of witnesses, to boot. A few months ago, our hero attended a “Shark Bait” audition, but only got to meet with a Casting Director. It seems his new BBQ Rub Business is too small (and new) to make it onto the Big Show. You can read all about it in the previous Episode “TasteeBQ vs. The Sharks”.

#sharktank
TasteeBQ’s Shark Bait wristband from the audition in May, 2013.

For Small Business Saturday, TasteeBQ would like to thank the people who work hard to help us every day at local Small Business Administrations (SBA) and Small Business Development Centers (SBDC). They managed to work straight through the recent government shutdown, urging us to stick with business-as-usual despite the uncertainties. Now the DOW is breaking records. But that’s big business- and another story.

At six months old, POWER Rub isn’t earning million$ yet. However, the company has made great strides thanks to the agencies’ help. As well as breaks from the small restaurant and retailers who have agreed to carry the product. In fact, the first run of POWER is almost sold out and the company is ready to release a second new Rub, to be called HERO. TasteeBQ also wants to thank the other Small Businesses that have helped, including Retailers, Advisors and the Consulting Team that is currently helping him bring HERO to market. (Will name real Names at the end article).

#marcondasmeats
Lou at Marconda’s Meats (Farmer’s Market), one of POWER’s most popular outlets. It is also now available at 11 other locations in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Hermosa Beach. Also now on Amazon.com.

Here are 5 of the BEST SMALL BUSINESS TIPS that have helped TasteeBQ so far:

1) Make a Business Plan– TasteeBQ should take his own advice and do an update for the new phase of the company. It is important to have a plan reflecting where you are and where you want to take your business. The SBA offers a Free Template which is easy to use (and to save) at: www.sba.gov

2) Attend Seminars/ Classes- This is another one we all can do more of. After attending a brief SBDC Orientation meeting, TasteeBQ was offered convenient morning seminars with great information for both new and expanding Small Businesses. And some of them are FREE! Even ones that charge a modest fee cost a fraction of what you would have a pay a professional consultant. To grow his company, TasteeBQ has had to hire a few consultants and they charge large Chuck$ of Change in advance.

3) Take advantage of Free Online Seminars and Webcasts. Our Superhero loves making dates to catch live Webinars from some of the Retail Industry’s brightest experts. The price is right. They are not only offered by the SBA, but free ones are also sponsored by Amazon.com, Google AdWords, American Express and Constant Contact (to name a few).

4) Get Free One-on-One Business Counseling- Many Business Consultants charge anywhere from $80.00 to $400.00 an hour, or more. After Orientation, TasteeBQ was given a main SBDC Counselor to help him improve his Business Plan. Then he was eligible to receive more Free 1 Hour Sessions with experts in Marketing and Social Media. They have been an invaluable help and only take 2-3 Hours a month.

5) Receive Help Funding Your Business- Stop wasting hour after hour chasing those Online Business Loan schemes. Believe it or not, TasteeBQ spent days web surfing for leads. Instead of Loan Sharks, he found himself swimming away from lots of Phishes. After a one hour meeting with his knowledgeable SBDC counselor, he walked away with the tools for his company to land expansion help from the big bank Swells Largo. The SBDC can help you find credit for Small Businesses of all shapes and sizes.

#monsieurmarcel
At Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market (Farmer’s Market). people from France, Australia, India and Canada enjoyed POWER and took some home.

Back to the Sharks, from the TV Show “Shark Bait.” Unfortunately, our hero didn’t bring any POWER Rub with him while attending last week’s live taping of the American Muzak Rewards show. TasteeBQ was there, enjoying live music from top acts like Katie Sperry, Justhim Woodlake, Rhiaria, Mylita Cyrcus and Laydie Gotcha. The Sharks must have known that TasteeBQ would be there. Why else would they agree to hop a jet to L.A. and give out a paltry award to the Best Pop/Rock Duo/Group/Band? Of course it was won by Won Direction.

#americanmusicawards
TasteeBQ arrives at entrance of 2013 American Muzak Rewards.

The 4 Sharks waited over 2 1/2 Hours to hit the stage. Could you imagine how much that would cost per hour for a consultation? While sitting around, they pretended to enjoy all of the live music. While secretly, they hoped that TasteeBQ would bring them some BBQ Bacon Popcorn. As a last ditch effort, when they came on stage, the 4 Sharks gave a Free One Minute Consultation on how Forming a Rock Band is like Building a Business. One even looked directly at TasteeBQ and said “You have to Plan, Budget and Execute Baby!” (Like he’s read the Costa Rica Episode of The Adventures of TasteeBQ).

#AMA
TasteeBQ’s view to the AMR stage, Sharks are only a few rows away.

No worries. With help from the SBA and SBDC, our hero will be once again in a room with the Sharks.  Their BBQ Bacon Popcorn will be warm and waiting. Follow the above 5  Tips and maybe one day you will end up in a room with them, too.

*As of today, POWER Rub appears at #3 on Google Search for “Gluten-Free BBQ Rubs”.  It is still on page 10 for “BBQ Rubs” and moving up. Today California Gold BBQ Rubs is set to surpass 4200 Likes on Facebook.

Using BBQ Rub To Transform Rotisserie Chicken – TasteeBQ Reveals the Truth (PART 2)

Courtesy of  www.TasteeBQ.com

smoked chicken
One Hour Smoked Rotisserie Chicken with Red Hot BBQ Sauce.

Most GrillMasters will tell you that the secret to smoking fresh Chicken is Low and Slow for hours, with careful temperature control. By starting with a precooked, Rotisserie Chicken it will absorb the smoke as you reheat it on the Grill. TasteeBQ recently went on a worldwide quest to assemble a Magic Rub with 9 of the greatest SuperFoods on the planet.

Brief Summary- Part 1:

rotisserie chicken
HELP ME! Rotisserie Chickens are moist and affordable, but can sometimes fall short on flavor.
BBQ Rub seasoned Rotisserie Chicken
Simply season Baked or Rotisserie Chicken with Magic Rub, and it’s already good to go. In Part 1, Tastee BQ also shared a recipe for Temporary Home Rub Potion.

TEMPORARY HOME RUB POTION
2 Tbsp. Smoked Paprika
1.Tbsp. Garlic
1. Tbsp. Cumin
1. Tsp.Turmeric
1. Tsp. Raw Sugar
1/2 Tsp. Sea Salt
1/4 Tsp. Pepper
[Salt and Sugar optional]

bbq barbecue chicken
Transform Rub Rubbed Chicken into Heated Rubbed Chicken (shown here with Red Hot BBQ Sauce), using Grill, Oven or Skillet. TasteeBQ also discussed the benefits of Turmeric and Garlic.

Part 2

TasteeBQ grew up in the Midwest. Flavors from Texas, South Carolina and Tennessee influenced folks to create a variety of Chicago Style BBQ Sauces. Most of these Sauces use Ground Mustard, which is rarely Gluten Free (GF). Forced to solve this dilemma, our Hero decided to visit Okinawa, Japan- where people are said to live longer than Dinosaurs. He found that these heathy beings traditionally drink Turmeric Tea on a daily basis for as long as the oldest person can remember. So to be friendly to his GF friends, TasteeBQ decided to make Turmeric part of the Magic Rub.

Recipe #3- Homemade RED HOT BBQ SAUCE

As delicious as the Chicken is after Rubbing and Heating, for some people the BBQ experience isn’t complete without a Sauce. Over centuries of exhaustive research and testing, TasteeBQ has found that the Magic Rub can be used as a base for an infinite variety of BBQ Sauce Recipes. But today, he is going for something sweet and Cinnamon-ey, so he will utilize a highly specialized weapon: Hot Tamale Candy.

homemede bbq sauce
Start with your favorite fresh Orange Juice and a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar. No-Pulp juice will make for a smoother sauce.
homemade bbq sauce
Add desired amount of POWER (or temporary Rub). Heat and stir until blended.
Red Hot BBQ Sauce
The Secret Ingredient.
Chop Hot Tamales
Chop the Hot Tamales before adding to pot. May chop more finely for faster melting. If any tasty candy chunks are left in the sauce, guess you’ll be forced to eat them.
Homemade Red Hot BBQ Sauce
Heat and Stir until thick and you are ready to enjoy “Red Hot BBQ Sauce” (TasteeBQ didn’t call it “Hot Tamale Sauce” for fear of Susan Feniger). You may also add a Tbsp. of Tomato Paste for flavor and redder sauce, or a Tsp. Molasses for richer sweetness.

RED HOT BBQ SAUCE TECHNIQUE

1. Heat 1 Cup fresh Orange Juice with 2 oz. Apple Cider Vinegar.
2. As it warms, stir in 2 Tbsp. BBQ Rub, then 1/5 Cup chopped Hot Tamale Candy.
3. Stir until thick, and Candy dissolves. May also add chopped Grilled Onion or Garlic.

“In the Middle Ages, a time when spices were relatively rare, cumin was one of the most common spices. It was thought to promote love and fidelity. People carried it to weddings and walked around with it with their pockets. It was reputed to keep lovers and chickens from wandering. Thus, married soldiers were sent off to battle with a fresh baked loaf of cumin bread.” – InDepthInfo.com

[TasteeBQ remembers the time, so he decided to add Cumin to the Magic Rub- especially for the Chickens.]

Recipe #4- MARINATED ONE HOUR SMOKED CHICKEN

This is “The Most Amazing Thing You Can Ever Do to Transform a Rotisserie Chicken” (in TasteeBQ’s humble opinion). This recipe can be done on the run, if necessary, but marinating the Chicken overnight adds tremendous flavor. Plus a cooled Chicken holds up on the Smoker much better than a warm one. It would help to marinate and refrigerate it for even a couple of hours.

Wood Chips on Charcoal
If you have any sort of outdoor Grill, it can be used as a smoker with the help of Wood Chips. Use them dry for Gas Grills and wet for Charcoal. Be sure to cook chicken with indirect heat.

EASY TECHNIQUE:
1. Buy Chicken a day in advance (grab two when you find them on Sale for $5.00). Thoroughly season Chicken with Rub, top and bottom. You may also rub in some Fresh Chopped Garlic. Refrigerate Chicken overnight.

2. Next day, set up to smoke Chicken on low for 1 Hour. Be sure to replenish wood chips, as needed. There should Grill space to smoke 2 or three Chickens. Great for a group, or if you want left over Smoked Chicken for Salads, Sandwiches and other Dishes throughout the week.

3. You may also try smoking sliced Onions and/or Garlic. Chop them to add smoky flavor to your BBQ Sauce.

Smoked BBQ Rotisserie Chicken
Baste Chicken with Red Hot BBQ Sauce for the final 10 minutes of cooking for even more smoky flavor.

TasteeBQ hopes you will try some of these Recipes. Rather than buying a myriad of Spices and Herbs, try finding a delicious BBQ Rub to make cooking them much simpler. It is also the most cost-effective way to make sure the blend of ingredients are equally fresh (rather than breaking out that bottle of 2 year old Paprika). These easy and affordable Recipes will make Your Kitchen the most delicious BBQ Joint in Town.

How to use BBQ Rub to Transform Rotisserie Chicken– TasteeBQ Reveals the Truth (Part 1)

Courtesy of TasteeBQ.com

Rotisserie Chicken. Cooking, recipes, store bought
The key ingredient: Rotisserie Chicken. Available, affordable and ready for Transformation.

This is one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Where do those Chickens come from? Why are the prepared ones cheaper than buying fresh ones? What road did those (same sized) Chickens cross to get to our table side ? Why are they so good? TasteeBQ had no time go ponder these deep thoughts. It was dinner time, traffic stucked, and those Rotisserie Chickens at the grocery looked mighty fine.

Rotisserie Chicken Section, chicken
Is Rotisserie Chicken the best convenience food since sliced bread?

But hadn’t he consumed a whole Rotisserie Chicken every night for the past four days? He considered getting that $5.00 Fried 8-pc Chicken deal tonight… Nah maybe next time. So our Hero had to come up with a scheme. Some way to make the same, tasty Rotisserie Chicken taste not so… same. TasteeBQ came up with a Plan. Why not fly all over the world and seek Herbal Wisdom in a jar?

Rub Rubbed Chicken, rotisserie Chicken, tasteebq, california gold rub, power rubbed chicken
Seasoned chicken looks good enough to eat? Go for it. Recipe #1-POWER Rubbed Chicken. Or this could be Step 1 for Recipe #2.

Recipe #1 RUB RUBBED CHICKEN (Not Jerked)

Enough pondering. Time for dinner. The first recipe he tried was really fast and easy. TasteeBQ used his Magic Rub with 9 Sacred SuperFoods. He simply removed the Chicken from the plastic tub, sprinkled it with the Rub- and Yum! Those who have yet to acquire the Magic Rub can use the following potion:

TEMPORARY HOME RUB POTION

2 Tbl. Smoked Paprika

1.Tbl. Garlic

1. Tbl. Cumin

1. Tsp.Turmeric

1. Tsp. Raw Sugar

1/2 Tsp. Sea Salt & 1/4 Tsp Pepper

[Salt and Sugar optional]

POWER Rubbed Chicken, rub rubbed chicken, rotisserie chicken
POWER Rubbed Chicken is the first step to quick marinating Chicken before heating it by Grill, Oven or Skillet.

This is not to be confused with Jerked Chicken. TasteeBQ found that Paprika is considered a SuperFood by some. Paprika is said to have famously dueled with Citrus Foods and won the title for “Most Vitamin C”. Who knew? Our hero found the spice to be popular everywhere from Hungary to Spain, Morocco, Mexico and in the Caribbean. The dishes ranged from Sausages, to Stews, Paellas and more. He also learned that applying heat to Paprika brings out even more of it’s natural smoky flavor. This led him to a brilliant idea.

Baked Rubbed Chicken, corn

Recipe #2- HEAT RUBBED CHICKEN

Simply genius. Who could of thought that adding flame to a re-seasoned Rotisserie Chicken could make it taste better? After applying the Magic Rub, TasteeBQ tried heating it, using several techniques. The results came out the same- Delicious!

Grill- Cut in half (lengthwise) and marinate Chicken in Rub (or Potion) for 15 minutes while firing up the Grill to Medium.  The longer you grill Chicken on indirect heat the more BBQ flavor you’ll get. Use wood chips for even more flavor.

Oven- After marinating, bake whole Chicken at 400 degrees for 1/2 hour. Then Broil for 5-6 minutes to get tasty, crispy skin.

Skillet/ Grill Pan- Heat up a little oil. Cut marinated Chicken into 4-6 sections. Pan sear Chicken on both sides, to caramelize. For extra flavor, you can saute’ Chopped Onions and/Garlic along with Chicken.

Grilled Rubbed Chicken with BBQ Sauce

If Grilled Chicken makes you Scream, Smoked Chicken is the Mona Lisa. It is almost impossible to describe the beauty and deliciousness of nicely smoked meat. But the flavor is simply unmistakable. That reminds TasteeBQ of Garlic, which he considers the Mona Lisa of Spices. Garlic has been used as both food and medicine in many cultures for thousands of years, everywhere from China to Japan, Egypt, India, France, Russia, South Korea, South America and here in the U.S.
